Uyen Kelly Duong, Intern in Clinical Mental Health Counseling
Kelly is a counseling intern working toward her licensure as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC). She is currently in the Clinical Mental Health Master’s program at UNC Charlotte and is also getting a certificate in Play Therapy. She earned her B.A. degree in Psychology from Columbia College (SC) with a minor in Communication Studies in 2016 and has studied Psychology academically for 6 years.
During her time at Columbia College, Kelly found her passion for Counseling after taking a Counseling class and volunteering for Prisma Hospital’s psychiatric unit. She believes in holistic healing and utilizes Client -Centered approach when working with individuals. Her goals are to build a healthy therapeutic relationship with clients, provide them with the support they need, and work with them toward their goals for healing and growth.
Born and raised in Vietnam, Kelly’s hope is to increase mental health awareness in the Asian community by providing mental health services and offering community outreach programs. She is empathetic, caring and works to create a safe space where her clients feel heard and valued. She is also able to conduct sessions in Vietnamese.
