Destiney Allen, Intern in Clinical Mental Health Counseling

Destiney is a counseling intern working toward her licensure as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC). She is currently completing her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Wake Forest University and has studied psychology academically for 6 years. She completed her undergraduate studies at Greensboro College where she received her B.S. in Psychology with a minor in English in 2019. During her time at Greensboro College, she accepted an internship her senior year which was not required for a B.S in Psychology at the time. However, she wanted her last semester of her senior year to mean something. Destiney’s internship was at a local youth shelter: Act Together, Youth Focus. She states, “I had such a liberating experience. Building a rapport with these clients was a challenge. I had never been exposed to this environment before, and at first I wanted to quit. A few weeks passed, and the facility, staff, and clients became comfortable to interact with. What I took away from Act Together is how much I enjoyed getting to know the clients and how much more I wish I could have helped. I know that my time here at Blue Stone Psychotherapy will give me beacon of experience.” Destiney is passionate about helping others as well as creating a safe space for her clients to promote growth and healing.
